Saiki Design worked with KEE Architects on two major phases of renovation and expansion at the organization’s corporate headquarters at their main campus location on the far west side of Madison. Phase one consisted of a major renovation to a newly purchased site, including pavement layout and planting design. Phase two consistent of an addition to the building and expansion of the site amenities for employees and visitors. Landscape Architects at Saiki Design were responsible for site planning and design for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, parking lot integration and inter-connection, drop-off areas, and for carefully detailing a series of pedestrian courtyards, green roofs and roof terraces.
Integrated stormwater management was an initial design theme that resulted in broad, site-wide movements created by sweeps of plantings, paving and landscape materials. Green roofs provide the initial stage of stormwater capture and treatment and connect to cobble streambeds and planted depressions that crisscross the site, weaving their way through a protected alcove in the building’s layout that harbors a number of smaller patios and seating areas. Infiltration basins terminate the stormwater capture sequence and visually connect the organization’s ethic of environmental stewardship to the entry and arrival sequence to the site and building.
Landscape Architects at Saiki Design carefully crafted construction documents for green roof and roof terrace development, site development, planting and landscape restoration, patio and seating area detailing, and overall planting and landscape restoration.
